Case Study: Arteconi CGI & Inspired & Co – Phnom Penh Duty Free Visualisation for Avolta
Overview
In late 2023, Arteconi CGI partnered with London-based design studio Inspired & Co to support Avolta's bid for the duty-free retail spaces at Phnom Penh's Techo International Airport. The project encompassed the creation of 40 high-fidelity CGI visualizations to showcase the extensive commercial areas, including both Arrivals and Departures duty-free zones, as well as a series of smaller gate stores.
Project Scope & Challenges
Scale & Complexity: The project involved visualizing a large-scale retail environment within a compressed timeline, necessitating efficient workflows and rapid iteration.
Concurrent Design Development: Design elements were evolving alongside the CGI production, requiring Arteconi CGI to adapt in real-time to incorporate ongoing changes.
Limited References: As the terminal was under construction, available references were limited to renders sourced online. Arteconi CGI had to reverse-engineer the environment to ensure accuracy and visual cohesion. LinkedIn
Strategic Value Delivered
Enhanced Tender Submission: The high-quality CGI visualizations provided a compelling visual narrative that strengthened Avolta's proposal to the airport authorities.LinkedIn
Design Validation: The visualizations facilitated stakeholder engagement and approval processes by accurately depicting the proposed retail spaces.
Operational Efficiency: Arteconi CGI's internal library of airport-specific 3D assets expedited the modeling process, ensuring timely delivery without compromising on quality.
Outcome
While Avolta did not secure the concession at Techo International Airport, the collaboration between Arteconi CGI and Inspired & Co resulted in a comprehensive and visually compelling tender submission. The project demonstrated Arteconi CGI's ability to deliver high-quality visualizations under tight deadlines and evolving design parameters.
This collaboration exemplifies how strategic visual storytelling and agile design integration can drive successful outcomes in competitive tender environments.
