Case Study: 3D Visualization & Animation for Le Marché Duty Free at Eurotunnel Calais

Project Overview

In 2023, Barber Design, in partnership with Arteconi CGI, was commissioned to develop a compelling design and visualization package to support Ospree Duty Free (a subsidiary of Mumbai Travel Retail Private Limited) in their bid for the Eurotunnel duty-free concession at the Coquelles terminal. The project encompassed the creation of a main retail space measuring 800 square meters within the Passenger Terminal building, along with a dedicated 75 square meter Truck Shop in the freight terminal. Objectives

  • Design Excellence: Craft an inviting and efficient retail environment that enhances the passenger experience.

  • Visual Communication: Utilize advanced 3D visualization and animation to effectively convey the design concept to stakeholders.

  • Tender Success: Secure the duty-free concession by presenting a compelling and innovative retail solution. Moodie Davitt Report

Collaborative Approach

Barber Design led the creative direction, focusing on spatial planning, customer flow, and aesthetic appeal. Arteconi CGI complemented this by producing high-fidelity 3D renderings and animations, bringing the design to life and allowing stakeholders to virtually experience the proposed spaces. This synergy ensured a cohesive and immersive presentation, aligning with Eurotunnel’s vision for a revitalized duty-free offering. Moodie Davitt Report

Outcome

The collaborative effort culminated in the successful awarding of the tender to Ospree Duty Free. The Le Marché Duty Free store officially opened in April 2024, marking Ospree's first overseas venture. The store has since reported double-digit sales growth, attributed to the innovative design and engaging customer experience. Moodie Davitt
